Couples love Hawaii. It is scientifically proven that if you are in a relationship, you are destined to travel to Hawaii at some point with your significant other. Hawaii is an expensive destination. To lessen the financial burden, I have decided to make this guide to help you score two FREE trips to Hawaii!

In this guide, you’ll need to sign up for two sets of credit cards for yourself and a significant other (4 total amongst the two travelers).

1. Apply for the American Express Hilton Honors Credit Card for 75,000 Hilton Honors points

Once you sign up for the Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express, you’ll receive 75,000 points after spending $2,000 in purchases within the first three months. While spending the $2,000 you can get between 3-5 points per dollar spent in rewards points depending on your purchase category.

Sign Up Bonus: 75,000

Spending Bonus: 6,000 – 10,000
Total Earned: 81,000 – 85,000 Hilton Honors Points

2. Refer your Friend for another 10,000 Hilton Honors points + 75,000 from their Sign Up

American Express offers a refer-a-friend program that rewards 10,000 bonus points to existing customers once your friend is approved. After signing up for the second card, you’ll need to spend another $2,000 in the first 3 months to get the 80,000 bonus points; plus you’ll get another 6,000 – 10,000 automatically while doing so.

Pooling points is a new and exciting feature offered by Hilton Honors. It allows you to combine points with another member.

Sign Up Bonus: 75,000

Spending Bonus: 6,000 – 10,000

Referral Bonus: 10,000

Total Earned: 91,000 – 95,000 Hilton Honors points

3. Book Your 5-Night Stay at any Hilton Hotel in Hawaii

Now that you’ve earned over 172,000+ Hilton Honors points, you are ready to book your hotel. One of the perks of the American Express Hilton Honors Credit Card is when you’re redeeming points, for every four (4) nights you book, your fifth (5th) night is free! That gives you a savings of 40,000 – 60,000 points.
See the chart below for a reference to how many points you may need for each Hilton hotel chain.

Free Night Bonus: (40,000 – 60,000) credit

Points Redeemable: 172,000 – 180,000 points

4. Apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card for 50,000 points

Once you’ve met the minimum spend requirements for your Hilton Honors Credit Card, you’re ready to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card to start racking up the points for your flight. Chase offers 50,000 Ultimate Reward Points after spending $4,000 in the first three months.

Total Earned: 50,000 Ultimate Reward Points

5. Refer your Friend for another 5,000 Ultimate Reward points + 50,000 from their Sign Up

After you’ve met the minimum spend requirement, refer your significant other to sign up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and you’ll get 5,000 points, plus they’ll earn their own 50,000 bonus points redeemable for their flight.

Total Earned: 55,000 Ultimate Reward Points

6. Book Your flight to Hawaii

To book your flight you will need to transfer your Ultimate Reward Points to the United Airlines MileagePlus program. A round-trip flight from anywhere in the United States to Hawaii is 45,000 mile points. You’ll have more than enough to book two tickets for Hawaii.
Total Redeemable: 105,000 United Airlines MileagePlus miles

And there you have it! Time to start shopping for sunglasses and flip flops. With a little patience and planning, you’re able to score a free 5-night stay in Hawaii for two! ($2,000 value)
